Dr. Susan Apold is a Clinical Professor of Nursing at the New York University College of Nursing and Dentistry.  Prior to her tenure at NYU, she was the Founding Dean of Nursing at Concordia College New York.  She also served as the Dean of Health and Human Services at Concordia, where she was  responsible for Social Work, Health Studies and Nursing Programs.  Dr. Apold is a two time Past President of both The American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) and the Nurse Practitioner Association New York State.  The first Health Policy Director for the ACNP, she was instrumental in moving the dissolution of the ACNP and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners forward to create one strong national voice for nurse practitioners in the United States.  She was appointed Member at Large to the newly created American Association of Nurse Practitioners transition Board of Directors for an 18 month term commencing January 1, 2013.  A member of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation panel on Inter-professional Collaboration, Dr. Apold was one of only two nurses who represented advanced practice nursing on that panel.  Dr. Apold has numerous publications, over 3 million dollars in grant funding and speaks nationally on issues of importance to nurse practitioners and their patients.  Dr. Apold was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in 2011.  She is a graduate of Holy Family University (1979, BSN); The University of Pennsylvania (1982, MSN); Adelphi University (1992, PhD); and, The College of Mount Saint Vincent, (1996, Post-Masters Certificate, Adult Nurse Practitioner).
