Dean and professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing in Jackson, Mississippi's only academic health science center. As dean, Dr. Hoover is responsible for two campuses that include baccalaureate, masters, Ph.D. and DNP programs. She also plays a critical role directing the Magnet research initiatives for University of Mississippi Health Care. For over eight years, Dr. Hoover was instrumental in building the Mississippi Office of Nursing Workforce-one of the most active and widely cited nursing centers in the country and has served as a workforce supply and demand consultant at the state, regional and national levels. Her work is published and presented nationally. Dr. Hoover is active on state and national committees and maintains memberships in numerous organizations. Her awards include the Jan Evers Faculty Fellowship Research Award, AACN Leadership for Academic Nursing Fellow, and the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning Higher Education Outstanding Faculty Honoree Award.
