Dr McNeal was recently appointed Dean of the School of Health and Human Services at National University.  She is the recipient of numerous teaching excellence awards and nearly $10 million in extramural funding to establish critical care curricula, mobile health care projects, a center for academic support services and traineeships for advanced practice nursing students. The author of over 100 publications, her articles have appeared in AJN, N&HC: Perspectives on Community, Image: Journal of Nursing Scholarship, Critical Care Nurse, Nursing Clinics of North America, Computers in Nursing, The Journal of Cultural Diversity and The ABNF Journal. She serves as Editor of The ABNF Journal, the official publication of the Association of Black Nursing Faculty Inc.; sits on the editorial board of the Journal of Cultural Diversity; is a 2006 inductee of the American Academy of Nursing; and, is a recipient of The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey's highest honor, the Community Humanism in Healthcare Award. She is a member of the Advisory Committee of the California Action Coalition and was an invited contributor to the RWJF/IOM Report on The Future of Nursing: Leading Change and Advancing Health.
