Routhier Chair of Practice and Professor of Nursing in the College of Nursing, University of Rhode Island, Kingston, Rhode Island. The Routhier Chair of Practice is charged with nursing workforce issues. Dr. Dunphy is currently the Co-Chair of the Rhode Island Senate Commission on Nursing which has legislation pending for a $3,500 tax-credit incentive for all full time faculty in the state. Additionally, she is the PI of a Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration University Center award, which supports the Rhode Island Center for Nursing Excellence. As the Center Coordinator, she participates on a variety of state and regional councils, as well as writing for various state and regional publications. She is currently on the Board of the Rhode Island State Nurses Association (RISNA), a member of Delta Upsilon chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International and Past-President of Beta Upsilon (University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL). Dr. Dunphy is an ANCC certified Family Nurse Practitioner and author of Primary Care: The Art and Science of Advanced Practice Nursing, as well as several management guidelines for nurse practitioners. She previously oversaw the Graduate Program at Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, Florida Atlantic University. Her research passion is the history of nursing and medicine. She is a longtime member of the American Association of Nursing History (AAHN) and the American Association for the History of Medicine.
