Karen S. Hill, DNP,RN,NEA-BC,FACHE, FAAN is the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Hill provides leadership to nursing and patient care services throughout this 383 bed Magnet® recognized facility while also working with other departments which support patient care. Dr. Hill's responsibilities include the Medical Surgical and Women's and Children's service lines. She was a member of the 2000 cohort of the RWJ ENF program.

Dr. Hill also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Nurisng Administration, an international peer-reviewed publication. Dr. Hill works with authors from around the world to publish cutting edge research and practice information supporting executive practice. Dr. Hill is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the Alumni Association of the University of Kentucky College of Nursing, Board member of "Women Leading Kentucky" and a columnist in Reflections on Nursing, an electronic journal of Sigma Theta Tau. Dr. Hill is a member of the Hospital Advisory Board for The Joint Commission. She is a frequent presenter on topics including leadership, recruitment and retention and the aging nursing workforce. Dr. Hill was one of the original six authors of the RWJ sponsored white paper "Wisdom Works: The Retention of the Older and Experienced Nurse" (2006) addressing the retention of nurses over age 45 in the hospital workforce. Two subsequent articles have been published by the team highlighting the issue of lost knowledge in nursing.  In 2010, Dr. Hill was recognized by HcPro with the Image of Nursing Award.
