Barbara Wadsworth M.S.N., M.B.A., R.N.,N.E.A. – B.C., 2009 Cohort
Senior Vice President of Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer for Abington Health, a two-hospital, not-for-profit, community, hospital system. Abington Memorial Hospital (AMH) is located in Abington, PA, a suburb North of Philadelphia. AMH is a 665-bed acute care, Level 2 Trauma Center and teaching hospital. Ms. Wadsworth joined Abington in 1999 as the Administrative Nurse Director and served in that capacity until 2006 when she was promoted to Sr. Vice President/CNO where she is responsible for Inpatient Nursing, Emergency Trauma Center and Outpatient areas including Home Care, Hospice, Diabetes Center, Wound Center and the OB/GYN Center. Her responsibilities include inpatient medical-surgical, critical care, maternity, surgical services, pediatric, behavioral health and rehab services. Other areas of responsibility include Nursing Informatics, Patient Support Center, Palliative Care, Pastoral Care and the AMH Dixon School of Nursing. In 2008, AMH was redesignated as a Magnet facility and received the Magnet Prize for the Daily CARE Plan. Ms. Wadsworth is active on a number of local boards including the Eastern Center for Arts & Technology—Allied Health—Occupational Advisory Committee since 2005 and Past President of Southeastern PA Organization of Nurse Leaders 2007. Ms. Wadsworth has presented at national conferences and has completed the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Patient Safety Officer Executive Development Program and the Johnson & Johnson/Wharton Fellows Program for Nurse Executives.
