Mona Wicks Ph.D., R.N., 2008 Cohort
Professor and Associate Dean for Research in the College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Wicks represents the college's research interests in the community, collaborates with the Dean to develop and lead the college's research-focused strategic initiatives, and is completing a National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded intervention study designed to improve the mental health and functioning of black women caring for a relative receiving chronic hemodialysis therapy. She is Recording Secretary for Mustard Seed, Inc., a nonprofit agency whose mission is to improve the education and quality of life of disadvantaged families. She has published articles in the Journal of Transcultural Nursing (2009), Biological Research for Nursing (2009), and Heart and Lung—The Journal of Acute and Critical Care (2008). Dr. Wicks is a member of the NIH Healthcare Delivery and Methodologies Integrated Review Group Study section (2008–2011), listed in Who's Who among American Women (2005–2006), and received the UTHSC College of Nursing Outstanding Alumnus Award (2009).
