Carla Baumann is a board-certified integrative nurse coach practicing in a farm setting in rural Kentucky. Her clinical practice focuses on integration of health and wellness practices into the local culture and community. In October 2012, Baumann was in the first cohort of the International Nurse Coach Association's initiative to prepare nurses for advanced coaching and supervision of nurse coaches. She and her family operate a 430 acre diversified organic farm. Baumann chairs the local community health center board, and is on the board of Community Farm Alliance, Paint Lick Clinic, Berea Farmers Market, and New Opportunity School for Women.
A public health nurse since 1976, Baumann developed the first Regional Training Center for the Department for Public Health in a local health department setting in 2008. In 2010, the Kentucky Public Health Association recognized Baumann as the Public Health Nurse of the Year. She was a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow (2004-2007) during which time she was instrumental in initiating one of six Diabetes Centers of Excellence in Kentucky and also led an organizational improvement project at the local public health department. In 2010, Baumann was s a member of the project team that developed a nurse residency program for rural Kentucky hospitals - a collaborative effort of the Kentucky Nursing Capacity Consortium and the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellows of Kentucky.
