Dr. Kathleen Capitulo is the Chief Nurse Executive / Associate Director of Patient Care Services at the J.J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. Her clinical practice and research focus on clinical workforce issues, family centered care and vulnerable populations, including caring, empowerment, engagement, perinatal grief, transplant, patient education, patient satisfaction, and scientific translation. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Science from Columbia University, is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing. She has authored numerous articles, book chapters, and a book. She is on the Editorial Board of MCN- The American Journal of Maternal-Child Nursing and the board of Greater New York Organization of Nurse Executives & New York Organization of Nurse Executives. Previously, she served on the Boards of the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric & Neonatal Nurses, the American Red Cross-Greater NY-Queens, and the Alliance of Queens Artists. Dr. Capitulo holds several faculty appointments: Professor at Wenzhou Medical College in China; Professor of Preventive Medicine - Adjunct, Mount Sinai School of Medicine; and an Associate Professor at Case Western University's Frances P. Bolton School of Nursing; and N.Y.U. College of Nursing. Dr. Capitulo has been a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow (2004-2007) during which she developing a Transcultural Nursing Leadership Institute in China.
