Susan E. Hoolahan is the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services at UPMC Passavant McCandless & Cranberry. She is Board Certified in Nursing Administration, and has worked with UPMC in various roles since 1991. Susan has 32 years of progressive nursing experience in critical care, nursing leadership, and hospital operations in both academic and community teaching organizations.
Formerly, Susan was Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of UPMC St Margaret’s where she achieved MagnetTM designation from the American Nurse Credentialing Center, the highest level of recognition presented to health care organizations, as well as facilitating implementation of their eRecord.
Susan completed the 3-year Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellows program in spring 2011. She was selected to be one of twenty nurse executives across the country to be in a three-year fellowship to prepare nurse executives to lead health care policy and health care in senior executive roles.
Susan is currently the President for the Southwestern Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders ( SWPONL) and President Elect for the Pennsylvania Organization for Nurse Leaders ( PONL). She holds an adjunct faculty position for the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and is a member of the CNO Advisory Council for HAP. She serves as a Magnet Appraiser for the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), and is Board Certified with ANCC.
