Shelly Buck DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC. Dr. Buck currently serves as Vice-President Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse Executive, Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center (SFMC). SFMC is a 130-bed community-based, not-for-profit acute care facility located in Midlothian, Virginia. SFMC is one of four hospitals in the Bon Secours Richmond Health System and one of 14 in the Bon Secours Health System, Inc., which is a Catholic-sponsored healthcare organization founded by the Sisters of Bon Secours. Dr. Buck provides leadership, direction and consultation for nursing practice in all areas of the organization. As the Chief Nurse Executive, Dr. Buck is responsible for leading all aspects of nursing care and for the development of new services and programs for the hospital. As a member of the senior executive team, Dr. Buck participates in strategic planning and operations management to ensure that the hospital meets both internally and externally regulated standards and policy. She also serves as one of the leaders of Clinical Transformation, a comprehensive inter-disciplinary approach to achieve care delivery excellence throughout the patient care continuum that measurably improves quality; creates holistic, patient centered care experiences; and reduces healthcare costs by reducing waste and optimizing the value proposition. Dr. Buck is an active member in numerous national and local organizations such as, ANA, AONE, ACHE, AACN, and VAONE. She is currently the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Chair of the Commission on Pathway to Excellence. Dr. Buck was elected to the Commission in 2011, after she led the SFMC team to earn Pathway to Excellence designation, making SFMC the first hospital in the Commonwealth of Virginia to earn this designation.
