Andrea Mazzoccoli, MSN, MBA, Ph.D., is Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Vice-President Center for Clinical Excellence and Innovation for the Bon Secours Health System, a role she has held since November 2007. Prior to joining Bon Secours,she served as Vice President, Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). In her role, Andrea leads the System's Clinical Transformation Effort and the Nursing Leadership Collaborative. Andrea has 30 years of experience in nursing leadership. Dr. Mazzoccoli achievements include leading Bon Secours services of patient care through the creation of a system Center for Clinical Excellence. The Center is the framework for the clinical transformation efforts and includes Institutes for Patient Safety, Informatics , Evidence Based Care and Nursing Practice. In addition to her role at Bon Secours, she serves as a ANCC Magnet Appraiser. Dr. Mazzoccoli has published several articles and book chapters as well as lectured internationally and nationally related to rapid response, failure to rescue, informatics and nursing leadership.She earned her nursing diploma from the Shadyside School of Nursing, received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Carlow College, a Masters of Science in Nursing and Business Administration from Duquesne University, and a Doctorate in Philosophy -Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh. She was recognized as the distinguished alumni 2014 by the University of Pittsburgh and delivered the 2014 keynote address to the graduates. She is a Johnson & Johnson Wharton Fellow. In fall of 2012, Andrea was inducted as a fellow into the Amerian Academy of Nursing.
