Executive Officer of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) in June 2001. Apple brings to the table over thirty-five years of experinece in nursing and regulation as well as a strong commitment to the mission of NCSBN.
Apple began her nursing career in 1975 and has held various clinical and management positions during the course of her career including nurse and family therapist, co-director of a family therapy center, director of staff development and advanced practice nurse in psychiatric-mental health nursing. In 1992, she began her regulatory career with the Nevada State Board of Nursing as the associate director for nursing practice. She was appointed Executive Director of the board of nursing in 1996.
Apple holds an MS in Nursing from the University of Nevada, Reno, an MS in Counseling Psychology from the University of Alaska and a BSN in Nursing from California State University, Long Beach. She is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow, a graduate of Leadership America, credentialed by the American Society of Assocation Executives as a certified association executive, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
