Professor & Associate Dean, Graduate Programs for the University of Kansas School of Nursing in Kansas City, Kansas. Dr. Teel came to the University of Kansas in 1993 after completing doctoral study at the University of Arizona. She teaches at the baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral program levels and is an active researcher. Currently, she is principal investigator of the Promoting Education in Kansas project, which is a State Implementation Program grant awarded to Action Coalitions. Dr. Teel has served as Vice-President and Board Member for the Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS), Chair of the MNRS Development Committee, and President of the University of Kansas chapters of Sigma Theta Tau and Sigma Xi. She has published in several journals, including Nursing Research, Journal of Nursing Scholarship, Aging & Mental Health, Journal of Advanced Nursing, Nursing Education Perspectives, Journal of Family Nursing, Leadership in Health Services, and the Journal of Aging and Physical Activity. Dr. Teel's awards include the University of Kansas Medical Center Faculty Investigator Research Award, University of Kansas (KU) Kemper Award for Teaching Excellence, KU Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Excellence in Teaching award from the KU Center for Teaching Excellence, and the Daisy Faculty Award.
