Senior Associate Director for Research and Evidence-Based Practice in the Department of Nursing at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics (UIHC) in Iowa City, IA. Dr. Tucker began this position in January of 2011 after serving for nine years as the Nurse Administrator for Research and Evidence-Based Practice at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. In her position at UIHC, she is continuing to expand her research program related to health promotion for children and families with a particular focus on working mothers and promoting physical activity and stress reduction for them and their children. She is also charged with leading evidence-based nursing practice, providing institutional and departmental research-related services, and working with faculty in the College of Nursing in collaborative research and mentoring of gradate students. Dr. Tucker has extensive clinical, teaching and research experiences in mental and behavioral health. Her current research projects focus on testing interventions that target parents as the agents of change to prevent/reduce parent and child overweight and obesity problems, promote children's mental health, and reduce parent stress within multiple settings. She partners with colleagues internally and externally from Mayo Clinic, Iowa State University and Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Tucker has been awarded extramural funding and support; she publishes in her research field; and actively participates in child wellness initiatives at the local, state and national levels.
