Dr. Jeannette Andrews is the Dean of the University of South Carolina College of Nursing. Dr. Andrews is a National Institutes of Health-funded investigator for multiple community trials targeting cardiovascular risk reduction and tobacco control. With her expertise on community based participatory research (CBPR), she is leading efforts to build capacity for CBPR among academic and community partners in the Southeastern U.S. region. She has authored over 200 publications and abstracts, including models on CBPR Partnership Readiness, academic-community CBPR frameworks, and implementation of tobacco cessation guidelines into marginalized community settings. She is a national consultant on CBPR and serves as a reviewer for the National Institutes of Health. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, and a member of the American Nurses Association, American Public Health Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, Council for Advancement of Nursing Science and Southern Nursing Research Society. Her awards include MUSC Mentoring Award (2012), Health Care Hero Award (2010), Palmetto Gold Award (2010), Outstanding Dissertation Award from the University of South Carolina (2005), Veterans Administration National Professional Nurse Award (2000), Nurse of the Year, Georgia Nurses Association (1998).
