Dean and Professor, Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing at the University of Wyoming. Dr. Burman has been at the University since 1992 and her other leadership positions include coordinating the family nurse practitioner program and serving as associate dean and acting dean for the College of Health Sciences. She is the project director for a RWJF PIN Project focusing on leadership development and education transformation for the State of Wyoming. Dr. Burman is on the board of directors of The Downtown Clinic, an integrated primary care clinic providing services to uninsured individuals. She is a member of the Government Affairs Committee for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and serves on the National Adivisory Council on Nursing Education and Practice, Division of Nursing, Health Resources and Services Adminstration. She was appointed by the governor to serve on the Wyoming Workforce Development Council. She has published articles on rural health care, nurse practitioner education and practice and chronic illness. She has served on the board of directors for the National Organization for Nurse Practitioner Faculties. She was a scholar at the Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (2000-2001). She was inducted as a fellow into the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (2008).
