Director, Diversity, Patient Care Services for Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, Massachusetts. The MGH is a Magnet designated hospital with more than 19,500 employees, including almost 4,300 registered nurses. In her role as Director of Diversity, Ms. Washington is responsible for program development that addresses issues related to increasing the presence of diversity in professional roles, the education of staff and leadership in cultural competence, as well as skill acquisition in managing a diverse workforce. In 2007 the MGH Diversity Program received the Rosoff Award, presented by The Ad Club and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce for recognition of its diversity initiatives. Nationally, Ms. Washington was featured as the "Leader to Watch" in the February 2005 issue of the AONE Nurse Leader Newsletter, honored as the national finalist in the Nursing Spectrum Excellence Awards in the category of Advancing and Leading the Profession (2007), named one of Boston Business Journal's Champions of Healthcare (2009) and received the inaugural Arnold Z. Rosoff Agent of Change Award (2009).
